METRORail Program

As Traffic Engineering and Systems Integration Task Manager for the METRORail Project Management Team, GUNDA was responsible for all of the traffic engineering, planning and systems design elements of this project.

The project scope included the addition of a train control center to the existing TranStar facility that integrated the METRORail Advanced Traffic Management System with TranStar. Tasks included directing multiple consultant teams in the traffic and ITS integration with other necessary systems.

GUNDA coordinated traffic elements with the system designer, contractor, operations, architects, and government agencies responsible for the creation of this transit program. GUNDA developed project standards for traffic elements, prepared the METRORail ATMS concept plan, reviewed all studies and designs for consistency and constructibility, participated in several stakeholders' meetings and provided technical support in arriving at solutions to satisfy the stakeholders.

GUNDA continues to be a working member of a team that develops train operations plans including emergency evacuations and incident management.
