Grand Parkway Segment “E”

Gunda Corporation provided traffic engineering and ITS services for the entire corridor of Grand Parkway Segment “E” from IH-10 to US 290, which is approximately 9 miles.  The scope of work included traffic projections, intersection design, traffic signal design and field ITS devices such as CCTV, radar vehicle detector, Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI), Dynamic Message Sign (DMS), toll facility and fiber optic communications. In addition to the construction plans, we developed any special specifications and engineer’s cost estimates associated with the design, thus production of the PS&E.  Traffic signal and toll communications will be integrated into TranStar using TxDOT CTMS along IH-10 and US 290.

Gunda Corporation also provided roadway and drainage design for 6,300 feet of the corridor.  The project was delivered to HCTRA and TxDOT standards within 6 months due to the ARRA funding deadline.  The project was redesigned to TxDOT standards on an aggressive schedule when TxDOT took over Grand Parkway implementation.
